Blogger Indonesia of the Week (59): Harry Sufehmi
The beauty or being human, compared to animal, is that we always want to do more. For the better or the worst. So, we see this world grows, develops, progresses and at the same time deteriorates. The invention and the amazing findings in various sphere of lifes, especially in science, has benefitted humanity as much as it create destruction. See the result of atomic now nuclear bomb which devastated, nay annihilated, two beautiful cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima along with hundreds of thousands of their population.
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (58): Riana Ambarsari
Indonesian Chef Blog for Indonesian Food Fans
Riana Ambarsari is a name I should put in my post when I quoted her tribute to the demise of Bunda Zidan aka Inong. I was in the rush then, as usual. And just comes to know her true name days after the post when I surfed through some links in her blog. Like me, she seems to have several experimenting blogs: from personal blog, to cooking and recipe blog; both in blogspot and blogsome.
I dont know what the different between the two blogs, I’m very bad “chef” who can only cook rice and fry telor mata sapi and omlette. But if my early and rush assesment is right, the blogspot one seems to be for any “heavy” food recipes from all over the world. While in the blogsome is more dedicated for “lighter” one ie dessert.Despite her blogs are not specifically dedicated for Indonesian food recipes, it should answer Indra Pramana’s friend queries and satisfy their needs as her food blogs are written in a good grammatically correct English.
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (57): Mulya Amri
From the time I started blogging about a year ago, I reminded Indonesian blogger to blog “for the cause” and hence, one should try to make quality content every now and then. By “quality content” it doesn’t mean a merely thoughtful-philosophical kind of content as not everyone has the capacity to do that. Quality content also include reporting what you see around you. Sort of “investigative” reporting in journalism world with, of course, much lighter sense of the term.
For example, I elaborated further in another post:
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (56): William Pramana
So far as traffic and Technorati ranking go, among the top ten Indonesian bloggers who got mentioned in the Tempo magazine a few weeks back, William Pramana is certainly the most deservedly blogger to have such honor. Long before Tempo magazine made the long report on Indonesian blogosphere, Priyadi has made a Technorati-based survey and William came out as the numero uno. I was amazed and surprised to know how he very humbly responded to the honor and honestly wrote:
I am honored to be on that list but I don’t think I deserve it because there are so many Indonesian blogs with better content and better user discussion. The reason why I came on the top of the list is because I generate so many incoming links.
I generate so much incoming links NOT because people recommended me or they refer to one of my blog entries, but because of my contribution to the Wordpress Theme Competition Blog. The Golden Grey is used by so many wordpress powered blog.
Priyadi’s effort in making the survey is now followed in a better way by Heri Susanto. In Heri’s blog, you can see live–dynamically changed ranking in accordance with Technorati–the top 100 Indonesian blogs. You can see William’s blog is always on top and is even number 15 on overall Technorati ranking out of 51 millions blogs listed in Technorati!
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (54): Devi Girsang
How to have a good blog content? How to be a good and insightful blogger? Or in other words how to be a good writer? Devi Girsang, though implicitly, says loud and clear: “Love reading and writing!” She’s right. While reading is a must for recharging your rechargeable brain in order to keep updated with the latest information of your interests and be a well-informed person, writing is the best way to keep whatever we read and absorb and then build it up further into a totally new idea or a convergence of various thoughts.

Blogger Indonesia of the Week (53): Oskar Syahbana
Sukarno known more as Bung Karno (BK), the founding father and the first President of Indonesia, once said in his biography written by Cindy Adams that 10 dynamic energetic youth are enough to accompany him to build and change Indonesia towards the better future. When I walk through Oskar Syahbana’s blog and read some of his statements, his hopes, his dreams and his enthusiasm, Sukarno’s words echoes in my ear: is the person like Oskar (Ozzie) that Bung Karno wants to accompany him?
His personal introduction speaks for itself:
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (52): Indra Pramana
The first time I visit Indra Pramana’s blog was when I found his article concerning the lack–the absence, to be precise–of Indonesian food recipe blog written in English by Indonesian chef and he urges all Indonesian food bloggers to consider blogging in English. This is interesting. Indra’s urges is interesting for more than one reason. First, I found very few Indonesian bloggers who have the same vision with me and have the courage to call for others to blog in English. So far, my urges drive a bit pros and cons among bloggers with various reasons.
Secondly, he made the call specifically on Indonesian chef or cook blogger to blog in English. What does make him doing that? Here’s why:
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (51): Agusti Anwar
I’ve been a regular reader of Agusti Anwar’s Bahasa Indonesia Blog. His reflections are insightful and his opinions are clear and unambigious and elegantly written. So, I’ve a slight hope that someone like him should be blogging more actively in English as well. As a civil servant in foreign ministry he must’ve been in command in that language. My little hope turns out to be true. He starts blogging in English more regularly now.
As a person who is very passionate in writing, he naturally has insightful ideas in responding to certain issues. Anyone who gets obsessed and honest concern with his/her surrounding will be a good commentator. That’s one basic lesson as a launching pad to be a good writer or commentator. You cannot write an insightful writing if you think none beyond yourself. His posts covered many socio-political issues, on Indonesia-Australia relation he wrote:
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (50): Ong Hock Chuan
To be honest, I am a bit doubtful about mentioning his true name as I see his current insightful blog does mention only his blog name. That makes me hesitant for quite long time to give an introduction here regarding his blog. But after I read his latest piece in the Jakarta Post here, I know he just forget or doesn’t care about mentioning his true identity in his blog rather than intentionally hide it.
A few months back, a person named Ong Hock Chuan emailed me thanking me for my comment in his blogspot blog (now it seems to be deleted and moves on to self-hosted wordpress). He seems to start learning to blog very quickly and want know more about blogging.I thought then that he’s just a simple person like many others who start showing interest to the power of blog and blogging and want to start blogging himself.
Blogger Indonesia of the Week (49): Tanty Blatind
I wrote here on the various kind of moderation as far as Muslim goes particularly Indonesian Muslim. A term which is often misunderstood by western analysts or pseudo-analysts if you will in which I said that a moderate Muslim is not what, entirely or partially, many westerners think equally like moderate Christian, secular christian or leftist where ignorant and indifferent from the basic teaching of their religion being regarded as a sign of moderation.

Blogger Indonesia of the Week (48): Maverick Indonesia
When I lamented in a bit disappointment about the passive attitude of traditional media towards blogs and bloggers or you can call both as blogosphere, R.M., founder of Blog Indonesia aggregator advised me to be patient because he’s rest assured the time will come when Indonesian mainstream media will look into the blogosphere more seriously as far as the blogs trend and growth in the West keeps up. He actually wanted to remind me of this: our traditional media will follow whatever trend happening outthere sooner or later.
