Barack Obama Islam Indonesia The last two primaries which end on Tuesday has ended the fierce battle between two democratic rivals which Obama, as expected, came out as the winner. The news is not who’s the winner, but when will Hillary Clinton budge and concede defeat ro Obama and leave him alone which seems what is happening right now. IHT reports that

Hillary Rodham Clinton will endorse Barack Obama on Saturday, bringing a close to her 17-month campaign for the White House, aides said. Her decision came after Democrats urged her Wednesday to leave the race and allow the party to coalesce around Obama.

In a country where the color of your (white) skin does matter, Obama’s win drives so much hypes simply because he’s born with dark skin called outthere as black.  Just to remind international readers that it’s only a couple of centuries ago people with Obama’s skin color were merely a bunch of slaves for the Whites.  So, the Americans, both media and the people, feel by electing Obama as the Democratic candidate for upcoming election they have achieved something great: acknowledging the used-to-be American “low caste” into an equal footing with the mighty Whites. Accomplishment is accomplishment whatever weird it was. That’s said, one has to be appreciated for one’s efforts to reform one’s self.

Among international citizens, however, enthusiasm to Obama’s candidacy is also there for entirely different reasons. Barack Obama is an individual with an international “taste & feel”. It’s hoped his win in the next general election will change America’s unipolar & unilateral attitude towards others as is shown now and were in the past.

[Edit] Finally, Hillary Clinton endorses Obama graciously and promises to back him wholeheatedly to make sure he’s the first black president of the USA.

In his own life, Barack Obama has lived the American dream, as a community organiser, in the state Senate, as a United States senator. He has dedicated himself to ensuring the dream is realised. And, in this campaign, he has inspired so many to become involved in the democratic process and invested in our common future.

“Now, when I started this race, I intended to win back the White House and make sure we have a president who puts our country back on the path to peace, prosperity and progress. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do, by ensuring that Barack Obama walks through the doors of the Oval Office on January 20, 2009.”

Obama in the eye of his Indonesian friends

In Indonesia, excitement and surprise are also felt among Obama’s childhood friend as reported by an Indonesia’s local newspapers Duta Masyarakat 05 June 2008.

As is known, he’s been in Indonesia during his childhood days that is between 6 to 10 year-old of his age. . He studied in SDN Menteng* Jakarta. According to Cahyono, one of his class mate in Class III, he’s

Just an ordinary student although is very studious one. He used to like playing soccer in break time.

Kuwadiyanto, the SDN Menteng principal, in the meantime, feels so proud of Barack Obama’s great and historic achievement and hopes that once he is elected as the US president, he would visit Indonesia.

*SDN or Sekolah Dasar Negeri is Indonesian school from class I to VI. We call SMP or sekolah menengah pertama for Class VII to IX and SMA or sekolah menengah atas for Class X to XII

I am not really like politics, but I do pay attention to US election because Obama is black and comes from Democrats, which is (hopefully) more friendly to developed country.

Even he’s been in Indonesia during his childhood, in my opinion this is only a bonus for us as Indonesian citizen. Let’s say he will be elected as the next US President, he will be focus his policy for US internal affairs as he promised during the campaign.

The most important thing we could learn from him is that Indonesia need a person like Obama as Indonesia President who confidence and dare to make a change into a better future even he comes from minority.

Even as Clinton pledged to speak with her supporters about what the next step in her campaign should be, there were signs that she was leaving open the possibility of serving as Obama’s vice president.

The presidential election of America is not merely important for American people, but for the world and Indonesia as well.

It can determine the face of our world in the next four years, because of the power that America has.

For Indonesia, it can also helps Indonesia to overcome multidimensional crisis through foreign policy between America and Indonesia.

mau obama kek, mau hillary kek., keduanya sama aja bakal jadi kaki tangan yahudi, siapa sih yg bisa lepas dari cengekraman mereka. ujung2nya si obama ini cuman boneka aja yg dimainkan oleh ki dalang (israel)

This is how the American dream truly is; hope and courage to be the best all that one could be. Barack Hussein Obama has enlivened the dream once again for his fellow Americans.

Even if Obama got elected as president, the childhood pastimes Obama has during his time in Indonesia will not affect his international policy. Obama is not exactly an Indonesian politician that goes KKN-ish sana sini, bukan begitu bukan?

Let America be a nation of its own, let them take good care of themselves first. That goes for us as Indonesians also.

Thanks for sharing this, pak Fatih.

Somehow, I found him very charismatic. It will be interesting to see him become the first African American US president. After I read his book ~ A dream for my father, I reckon he has so much insight into the personal and intellectual development of the freshest and most interesting candidate for the US presidency.

What do we know about America? How much? History has proved us much about that country. It’s not a man’s work that will take the country into international policies. Agencies like NSA, FBI, CIA, CTU, FEMA, and many others that are involved in the process of decision making will not let anything that may endanger their positions in international games. What makes you think that Obama will make a difference at all? It’s still America that somehow feel to be destined as Universal Police. Interests that grow around Obama will never put him a strategic person to console the whole minorities. Indonesia will still be considered as a country with potential terrorism cells. The policy will endure. Maybe, Obama will be the next Lincoln and Kennedy; shot to death for breaking American traditions. We can only hope for the best. But is it so? That Obama will somehow manage to sit side by side with other countries-moslem countries-for peace talk without any hidden interests. Look around, NATO and WARSAWA PACT. They’re still there standing across from each other, preparing for worst case scenario. What are we preparing?
