Wordpress 2.5.1 I Love and Hate

Is your blog using wordpress blogging platform? Have you already upgraded into wp’s latest version (wordpress 2.5.1). Do you like it? Or hate it?
Which part or features of WP 2.5.1 you like the most? And which feautures of it that distract you?
For me, there are two most annoying features of Wordpress 2.5.1. First, If you have two sidebar widgets, you cannot move one widget in sidebar one into another as smooth as before. Instead, you need to delete a widget in sidebar one, then click “sidebar 2″ to copy/paste the widget in sidebar one to sidebar two.
Second, I cannot copy the content of a text widget or to highlight it to make a fast copying. Instead, you have to put your mouse cursor in the first character of a text and push “Delete” button manually! What a waste!
Gary of Abestweb forum gives us a “practical 13 steps tutorial” to moving one text widget from one sidebar to another in 2.5
1. Go to design > widgets
2. Click on the text widget edit link
3. Copy the content of the widget to the clipboard
4. Click the remove button
5. Click the “Save Changes” button
6. Select the target sidebar from the pulldown
7. Click Show
8. Click “Add” on the text widget bar in available widgets
9. Click edit on the text widget in the sidebar panel
10. Paste the content into the widget text area
11. Reenter the title (if one is desired)
12. Click “Change”
13. Click “Save Changes”
If you have some love / hate experience with wordpress 2.5.1 please share with us here. Hopefully, Matth Mullenweg will listen to this flipsides and make an update in upcoming version of wordpress.

I really, really hate how when composing an entry, the box o’ categories has been moved below it rather than next to it as before. This really disrupts my workflow and I often forget to set categories before publishing, then going “duh!” and having to edit it to set them.
Stupid.
Also, the new image uploading system has yet to bowl me over. Sure, there’s improvements, but there’s also regressions in functionality.

Kalau sudah bisa menggaji programmer, saya rencananya mau say goodbye saja sama wordpress (kecuali buat blog pribadi)

Untuk wordpress di hosting sendiri kita berhak untuk memutuskan upgrade atau tidak. Kalau saya pertimbangan utama adalah melihat kompatibilitas plugin yang dipakai dan bug yang versi dahulu parah atau tidak.IMHO
Bukan blog saya pribadi yang menggunakan WP mas. Tapi saya kena tugas buat blog GSSTF-UNPAD. nah, itu menggunakan WP 2.5.1
Versi WP yang lain saya “rasakan” di Blogsome.com, yang menggunakan versi 1.X.X (lupa). Memang versi terbaru pasti di bekali dengan segala perbaikan dan kemampuan baru. Hanya saja mungkin, wilayah “intimidasi” juga berpindah, seperti (yang saya rasakan) adalah lebih.. bertele-tele. Dan Lambat (Faktor ini, memang bisa jadi bukan ‘tanggung jawab’ WP, tapi lebih kepada Hosting gratis yg saya pakai)
Tapi bagaimanapun, pembaharuan, apalagi sebuah “rangkaian bahasa” ciptaan manusia, memang selalu perlu perbaikan berkala. Hanya terkadang, kesiapan menerima sesuatu bagi masing2 orang (mungkin) berbeda2.

because i used free wordpress.com, so my blog will automatically update to new version. i can’t handle it. based on my experience i don’t get serious problem witn WP 2.5.1
i still use old version of wp. Becaause wordpress update too fast.
