Proporsi Ideal Jumlah Penduduk dan Jumlah Doktor (S3)
Menurut data dari Kementerian Riset Teknologi dan Perguruan Tinggi (Kemenristekdikti), pada tahun 2017 jumlah doktor di seluruh Indonesia berjumlah 31.000 orang. Jika dibuat menjadi perbandingan doktor per satu juta penduduk itu artinya setiap satu juta penduduk, Indonesia memiliki 143 doktor.
Menilik data tersebut, Indonesia masih tertinggal dari negara tetangga, Malaysia. Negeri Jiran tersebut memiliki jumlah 509 doktor per satu juta penduduk. Apalagi dibanding negara maju seperti Amerika Serikat yang mencapai 9.850 doktor per satu juta penduduk , Jerman yang mencapai 3.990 doktor per satu juta orang, hingga Jepang yang mencapai 6.438 orang per satu juta orang.
LIMA NEGARA YANG MEMILIKI LULUSAN DOKTORAL TERBANYAK
(1). United States
The United States has long been a leader in higher education, with thousands of universities and research institutions offering PhD programmes in a wide range of disciplines. As a result, the United States has the largest number of individuals with PhDs in the world. According to data from the National Science Foundation, over 4 million individuals in the United States hold a PhD, making it the top country for PhD holders.
(2). Germany
Germany is known for its strong focus on research and innovation, which is reflected in the high number of individuals holding PhDs in the country. With renowned universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institute and Fraunhofer Society, Germany has produced some of the world’s leading experts in various fields. As of 2021, over 1.5 million individuals in Germany held a PhD.
(3). United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is home to some of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world, including Oxford and Cambridge. With a strong emphasis on research and academic excellence, the United Kingdom has a high number of individuals with PhDs. According to data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency of 2021, over 800,000 individuals in the United Kingdom hold a PhD.
(4). India
India’s rapidly growing economy has led to an increased focus on education and research, resulting in a surge in the number of individuals pursuing PhDs in the country. With top-tier institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), India has become a hub for advanced research and innovation. As of 2021, over 500,000 individuals in India held a PhD.
(5). China
China has made significant investments in higher education and research in recent years, leading to a rise in the number of individuals holding PhDs in the country. With prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University and Peking University, China has produced a large number of experts in various fields. As of 2021, over 300,000 individuals in China held a PhD.
